Altanure
Altanure is the anagram of « La Nature » [Nature].
Altanure is, above all, a way of approaching the environment. Our intention is to develop and organize the natural space so that you can feel that connection with nature.
Altanure, « Être la nature » [Be Nature].
In an edible landscape organized in harmony with the extraordinary biotope that surrounds us and where we cultivate an orchard and a permaculture vegetable garden, you will naturally be in tune with your inner environment.
Three locations
Three places where people come to regenerate, pamper themselves or take part in yoga retreats.
Casa Terra, a group of houses built in rammed earth (traditional earth constructions) and Quinta Sol d’Agua, an old house with typical regional architecture, are located in the same 6-hectare agro-ecological area, 5 km from Tavira and 4 km as the crow flies from the sea, in a lush and unspoilt rural landscape.
Hotel Almatere is located in Tavira, a 6-minute walk from the historic centre.
Natural and Bright Atmosphere
Each of these three locations has its own identity in terms of architecture and space planning. The same natural and luminous atmosphere of well-being fills and expands the space, both inside and outside.
Palm leaf shutters, tables carved from local stone and traditional regional tiles – natural and exquisite décor can be found at each of these three venues.
The region
The environment of Altanure is marked by the natural beauty of the bucolic landscape of the Tavira region and its proximity to the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. This unique ecosystem is intrinsically linked to the region and its biotope, with its lagoons forming a barrier beach with sandbanks and extensive beaches.
Behind the coast, the Barrocal is the Algarve scrubland that connects the coastal plain to the mountains, dotted with orange, almond, olive and carob trees. Further afield, the regional landscape gives way to the red earth of rounded hills, quiet villages and craft factories.
Natural and Rural Landscape
Altanure was born in this natural and rural landscape.
Casa Terra and Quinta Sol d’Agua are located 5 km from Tavira, a charming little port town crossed by the Gilão River.
Almatere is located in the town of Tavira itself, on the left bank of the Gilão, a 6-minute walk from the center, with its Roman bridge, whitewashed houses and characteristic hipped roofs.
